Magnetic levitation linear motors: KM-1921, KM-1920

Both the KM-1921 and KM-1920 feature a 9000rpm magnetic levitation linear motor. This particular magnetic levitation technology uses a near perfect magnetic field to levitate the motor itself, traditional ‘physical contact’ being vastly decreased the operation. Noise is reduced at the source, all minor but constant component wear is slowed, motor life extended being one of the more measurable benefits. An unprecedented (to the end user) operating experience is provided; stable, near silent trims are the end result of this technology – smoothness and comfort are and will always be, primary concerns of Kemei.

The KM-1921 trimmer features a yellow and black color scheme, combined with a robust shell made from ABS and aluminum alloy. This design ensures both style and near-complete durability; its ergonomic shape provides a very comfortable grip. A transparent window on the front allows the user to see the internal magnetic levitation motor. To further aid in personalization, replaceable top covers are included (green and red being the options provided). Free switching between them is possible, either for personal preference or different ‘occasions’ of use; usability is increased and to some small extent the lifespan of the trimmer is extended. The blade itself combines a DLC-coated powder metallurgy fixed blade with a ceramic moving blade. The DLC coating gives that fixed part high hardness and near zero friction, wear resistance being significantly improved; all forms of internal friction are reduced. The ceramic moving blade (high hardness, good corrosion resistance) maintains stable cutting at all speeds, a consistently sharp edge being kept. This entire blade combination enhances all previously mentioned durabilities, vibration and noise being reduced – a quiet efficient experience is the end result. Battery life is good, 2500mAh high capacity lithium supports at least 180 minutes continuous use. Depleted or not, connecting it to a power source will always keep trimming from being interrupted.

The KM-1920 is an upgrade from the KM-1921. While the KM-1921 is designed for sculpting, the KM-1920 is suitable for wide-area trimming. They share the same design, replaceable top cover, and seamless plug & play charging function. The battery and the blade material serve as the key differentiating factors.

The KM-1920 clipper utilizes a 4500mAh high-capacity lithium battery; up to 300 minutes of continuous use is supported, fully addressing the high-intensity demands often encountered in professional scenarios. Depleting the battery completely is not a concern as the re-charging time is the same – 300 minutes. The blade itself, both moving and fixed, is made from high-carbon martensitic stainless steel with DLC coating. This particular type of stainless steel provides the ideal hardness and various strengths required for the blade, long sharpness being one of the more important factors. The DLC coating pushes beyond what the steel alone can achieve; surface hardness and near complete wear resistance are improved, a low coefficient of friction being another positive side effect. The combination of the two (steel and DLC) greatly extends the service life of the blades, smooth trimming being the end result that all good clippers should offer.

Retro-style clipper: KM-1683

The KM-1683 clipper’s unique metallic texture and exquisite patterns create a true retro-luxury atmosphere; significantly setting it apart from more ‘common’ styles currently found on the market. The zinc alloy shell itself offers several advantages. Compared to standard plastic materials, this alloy provides superior durability and to a large extent drop resistance, extending the overall lifespan of the clipper. Better heat dissipation is another aspect the metal shell facilitates – constant or near-continuous motor use generates heat, and pushing back against that is a near perfect feature of the shell design. An ergonomic grip is combined with this, comfort being well achieved; the bottom hook style design saves good amounts of storage space, daily use simply becoming less of a chore.

Secondly, three speed settings are built into the hair clipper: 6500rpm, 7000rpm and the higher 7500. Switching between them according to hair type, area of trim, or pure precision required is very much a part of the user experience. Intricate styling and quick trims both hold up well under this system, operating noise remaining below that all important 59dB mark. The 2000mAh lithium battery gives at least 180min of near constant use, plug and play charging taking approximately the same time. High carbon martensitic steel blades complete the picture – sharpness and all round wear are both desirable end results. Kemei’s classic and modernly designed philosophy is perfectly embodied in the KM-1683.

Two-speed adjustable clipper: KM-1667

This clipper features two speed settings, allowing users to freely switch between 8000 RPM and 9000 RPM. The design itself enables the product to precisely adapt to various hair types and more specific trimming needs; fine hair, harder hair being among the primary examples that can be accurately trim. An intuitive digital display screen accompanies the clipper, showing real-time battery level and some form of speed status – always knowing the ‘working status’ of the tool is a huge plus for the end user.

Regarding blade material, the KM-1667 uses a near superior combination: powder metallurgy stationary blades and ceramic moving blades. The moving ceramics possess both high hardness and near constant corrosion resistance, long term sharpness being one of their main advantages, powder metallurgy providing the all round wear resistance required. This combined set up gives what can only be described as a smooth, near fluid cutting experience.

Battery life is well thought out; the built in 2500mAh high capacity lithium battery supports at least 150 minutes of continuous use (families will find this more than sufficient for multiple or single long haircuts). Seamingly plug & play fast charging takes 210 minutes, unexpected power outages never truly being a problem. Ergonomic material and to a point anti-slip texture design all come together in the KM-1667; grip comfort and all round operational stability are and will always be, to barbers at least, a quality haircut’s pre-requisite.

High-hardness balde shaver: KM-T399

The KM-T399’s primary advantage lies in its dual-blade floating mesh design. A multi-directional independent floating design is employed, flexibly adapting to various facial contours; closely conforming to the near-perfect outline of the skin, hard-to-reach areas being easily cleaned by this feature. The curved blade mesh structure complements this design, significantly reducing both vibration and subsequent noise during the ‘floating’ process; a smoother shaving experience is the direct result.

Regarding the blade material itself, the mesh uses a nickel alloy with titanium plating – a close fit to those previously mentioned contours being maintained, surface hardness and all related forms of wear resistance being greatly improved by the titanium. The moving blades are made from high hardness martensitic stainless steel, heat treated to push past ‘ordinary’ stainless steel in every possible way; corrosion resistance is also well achieved. This near ingenious combination of materials balances efficient trimming with that all important gentle care the skin requires, friction and irritations being reduced.

Performance wise the KM-T399 has an 8000rpm high speed motor, constant speed/voltage control, precise shaving achieved with each and every trim. Noise levels stay below 70db as before. The 1400mAh lithium battery provides at least 110 minutes, full charge in under 200 minutes; frequent users will find this a real asset.
